Exercise Physiology Ballarat

Support and exercise prescription on the road to injury and illness management and recovery.

Overview

Exercise Physiologists are much more than a personal trainer or gym instructor with extensive knowledge about the human body and the benefit that exercise has on it, both mentally and physically. They focus on rehabilitation of muscle, joint or nerve injuries, as well as treatment and prevention of chronic diseases such as diabetes or heart disease.

EPs specialise in clinical exercise interventions for clients at risk of developing or living with chronic and complex medical conditions and injuries – providing physical activity education, advice and support on lifestyle modification. Our focus is achieving maximal change to assist the restoration of our client’s optimal physical function, health & wellbeing.

What Is Exercise Physiology?

A common misconception is that an exercise physiologist is akin to a personal trainer, or perhaps a physiotherapist. However, this form of health and care focuses on rehabilitation through the prescription of exercises and the monitoring of the safe performance of a personalised plan.

We can share our extensive knowledge of the human body and exercise benefits to help you find pain relief, improve mobility and functionality, and manage and improve acute and chronic illnesses.

How Does Exercise Physiology Work?

The personalised programs that our exercise physiologist develops will help in the prevention and management of a variety of issues to help you reach your goals and best possible functionality and comfort.

These programs will also include advice and education on relevant changes regarding behaviour and lifestyle. There is also a focus on prevention of injuries and further issues while undertaking the programs. There are a range of conditions and injuries that our exercise physiologists can help with. Examples of these include:

  • Shoulder, back, hip, and knee pain
  • Osteoporosis
  • Cardiac issues
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Diabetes
  • Increased falls risk
  • The effects of ageing
